Spit shine

Tonight Hunter went to his first formal, the Sweetheart Ball. He looked so handsome, even with his little scruffy chin. He may have been a bit grumpy since he fell asleep and didn't wake up until I went to see what he was doing 20 minutes before his date came to pick him up. Waking Hunter up has never ended pleasantly. I hope he has fun tonight...but maybe not TOO much fun.

You made it 10!

Today we celebrated Cooper's 10th year of existence. He has brought a lot of energy and buzz to our home and we just love that he is a part of our family. He took some friends to the movie and then they came back for a super large pizza and a super large cookie with ice cream. I surprised him with a black and white table setting since he keeps reminding me he would like to change his room to black and white. Hopefully this will hold him off for awhile. I know he would have invited about 10 more people if he could have. I think he said thank you about 50 times. I just love my little double digit guy. Enjoy the pics!

Valentine Cheating

I'm a very honest person. And no...the title isn't some sordid introduction to a desperate housewife situation. But lets face it, sometimes boxes of chocolates can be deceiving. Unless there is a code breaker on the lid, you are just biting into some unknown confection. Now, if you love every type of chocolate ever invented (I bet I could find something you wouldn't like) then boxes full of mystery chocolates is no big deal. Personally, I love chocolate and nuts, chocolate and coconut, truffles, but I don't like chocolate and fruit. Don't judge..I'm just stating a fact.

I'm going to share with you my code breaking tactic that comes with a beautiful side benefit. Warning: You need to be hungry to attempt this. Open up your box of chocolates and take a tiny corner bite out of each chocolate. You will quickly break the code regarding chocolate guts. I used to do this by poking a hole in the bottom of the chocolate, but if you do that the side benefit doesn't work. Once you have bitten the corner off each chocolate...no one else will eat them. That's right. You can save them for when you are really in the mood. You don't have to scarf them down before someone else gets their mitts on them. It's a win-win situation. The ones you don't like? You would have thrown them out anyway. Happy Valentines day!

Visitors

My brother Kevin and his family came to visit for a few days. We found time to relax and enjoy each other even though the stomach flu invaded the Lott territory.

Here are the Highlights:
  • Playing Rock Band together with Heidi & Kevin stealing the vocal show
  • A tight game of Mexican Train (between Kevin & Heidi, Kurt and I weren't so close)
  • Rolling around with Chloe on the floor
  • Snuggling Ashton
  • Reading books to both
  • Kevin treating us to Red Robin (YUM!)
  • Bead shopping
  • Taking the kids to Krispy Kreme
  • AND...getting to meet this little lady, Oli, for the first time. She and I had a grand time talking to each other. She is so verbal and made me laugh and want to smooch her all at the same time.

Here are the Lowlights:
  • The puke flu whipped through the house. Kevin's kids had it before getting here, but Kevin got it Saturday night. Cooper, Heidi, and Kurt all got it Sunday night. Hunter got it last night. I got a very small version where I just can't eat and feel a little nauseous. It was fantabulous.
  • That's it.

We are so glad they came. Hopefully next time we will all be in good health and can do a few more outings.

It has begun.

Young Men's basketball season is in full swing. Last night was "THE" game. When I picked Hunter up after school he was pumped, jazzed, fidgety. Tonight's game was against the other top team. It proved to be a tight game with the score fluctuating between the wards, but in the end....defeat of the most disconcerting kind. A loss by 3 points.

At home Hunter turned into a bitter little man. So, we watched The Office together and that pacified him a bit. Then I suggested he & Kurt go to a movie. When all else fails...distract. Maybe they can redeem themselves in the championship. If not, I'll be prepared.
